We know many groups want to lock in their Northern Michigan dream vacation months ahead of time. We currently book 12 months in advance. Minimum night stays apply. For example, if you want to book August 1-7 for the following year and there is a 6 night minimum at that time, you’ll have to wait until August 7 of the current year to book for the following year so that the entire 6 night window is available to be booked to satisfy the minimum night stay.

Yes, our cabins are close together (50-100 feet apart with no roads between them other than the driveway for the community). They’re all part of the same small community which is made up of 9 homes with a shared waterfront and common areas including the swim dock, sandy beach area, beach volleyball court, and open grass field for yard games. Because the cabins are in close proximity, you can definitely book them together! It’s a great option if you’re traveling with multiple families but still want your own space.

The dock is typically put into the water around mid-May and removed around mid-October.

No. We do not allow renters to tie up/dock/moor their boat(s) and jet skis during the day or overnight. Additionally, renters may not operate motorized watercraft around the swim dock for the safety of swimmers and paddlers. You’re welcome to bring your own boats and/or jet skis on a trailer and launch them at Butch’s just a mile North or Alden’s downtown harbor boat launch, a few miles South. We ask that you do not come to the swim dock with your boat/jet ski to load and offload people or belongings. Instead, we recommend stopping to tie up at Alden’s downtown harbor for lunch or ice cream, DeWitt Marine or Butch’s for a bathroom break, gas and snacks, or Dockside for a bite to eat overlooking the water. Use caution tying up as the wind and waves can pick up quickly on Torch Lake.

Please note: if you plan to bring a boat or jet ski on a trailer, please message us in advance to let us know so we can give you more detailed instructions on where to keep your trailer for easy access.

No. We do not allow pets at our properties, sorry.

Yes. The registered guest (booking guest) must be at least 25 years of age. This guest assumes all responsibility and sole liability for any loss, injury or accident suffered by all guests in your party while on the premises and for any damage or injury caused to the property or other persons.

Yes, our cabins are great for small, private celebrations. We kindly ask that you pay attention to a a few important conditions if you’d like to host a private event:
  • All guests must be listed in the reservation and fall within the maximum occupancy of the cabin: the registered guest assumes sole responsibility for any damage caused to the property.
  • During your stay, please be respectful of the property and tidy up prior to your departure: additional cleaning required will be charged at $50/hr.

This is the best part! You will find a wide array of fun activities in our area all year round! Enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking and paddling on the entire Chain of Lakes including the renowned Torch Lake, skiing and snowboarding at Shanty Creek or Boyne Mountain, fat tire biking and hiking at Glacial Hills Pathway, visiting wineries and nearby towns with great shopping, dining and entertainment. There are a variety of festivals and events throughout the year in Traverse City, Charlevoix, Bellaire, Elk Rapids, and our very own Alden. Make sure to follow us on Instagram for more travel inspiration and details about local happenings.

Water Camp loves hosting guests of all ages. With that said, our cabins and our property are not fully “child-proof.” Make sure young children remain under direct supervision of an adult during their stay, especially outside. Please note that our property has the following features:
  • Open fire pit and fire-tables
  • Easily accessible lake access and dock
  • Swimming area with no lifeguard on duty
  • Swing set

We ask that guests do not use the community wood-burning fire pit down by the water on the South side of the property as it is for owners only. With that said, if an owner starts a fire in the fire pit, you are free to join and enjoy sitting around it. The owner must be responsible for the fire. Each of our cabins has a propane fire table on the deck which guests are of course welcome to enjoy at their leisure.

All 3 of our properties are zero-entry (no steps from the exterior to any interior areas of the cabin), but do not follow all ADA modifications in terms of hallway and doorway width, showers and toilets, bathroom turning radius, grab bars, accessible sinks, placement of electrical outlets, automatically opening doors, etc. For this reason, our cabins would not be suitable for someone who relies exclusively on a wheelchair and requires these features.
Don’t hesitate to contact us directly at hello@watercampstays.com to discuss your specific needs. We’d be more than happy to do what we can to enhance the comfort of your stay.
